Survivor Shares Story of Sex Trafficking [repost]

Stories like these are why we are in Portland, partnering with ministries like Abolition Now.

Sex trafficking in Portland is a big problem, so much so that some sources say the Rose City has the highest rate of juvenile sex trafficking in the country. It doesn’t just happen to homeless teens, though they are one of the most vulnerable populations. It can happen to the girl next door too. Andrea Benson was a recent college graduate who met a man on an internet dating site. But her boyfriend soon turned into her pimp. She joined us to share her story in the hopes it will help others avoid sex trafficking.

She is also sharing her story as part of a new exhibit. More than a Survivor, More than a Story, honors victims of human trafficking who are now survivor leaders. It celebrates these individuals for their beauty, strength, and accomplishments and a future beyond the trauma and stereotypes of commercial exploitation.
