WHEN HE DIED, SOMETHING COOL HAPPENED
…the freakish fall of King Uzziah
2 Chronicles 26-28
When I think of the name of King Uzziah, I think of his death. This is because one of my favorite passages in scripture begins with this bit of information. Isaiah 6:1, “In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord sitting on a throne, high and lifted up, and the train of His robe filled the temple.” This passage goes on to give us insight into the marvelous presence of God.
King Uzziah began as a great king. He sought after the Lord, and God blessed Him….until his pride got in the way of everything good. Uzziah thought that he had accomplished so much, that he could waltz into the Temple of God, bypass the rules, and offer incense to God. (note: this makes me so grateful that because of what Christ has done, I can approach God’s throne with confidence)
This action was punishable by leprosy.
- Great Passage
- If the end of Romans 12 talks about how to live with believers…
- Chapter 13 talks about how to live amongst the world
